How long does a typical Aconcagua expedition take?

Duration depends on the itinerary chosen with your operator. This gear list does not specify overnight counts at Confluencia or Plaza de Mulas.

What base camps do climbers use on the Normal Route?

Bring a four-season tent and −20 °C sleeping bag suitable for high camps. Named base-camp elevations and rotation nights are not listed here.

Mandatory cold-weather kit

Double boots, crampons, and a satellite messenger are recommended. Rangers may check equipment at park gates; exact mandatory lists are not reproduced on this page.
